Product Introduction

Firestop sealant is a cartridge-applied compound used as the exposed seal component in tested wall, floor and service-penetration arrangements. The non-sag paste is tooled over the specified backing material to create a continuous smoke-resistant joint while retaining the movement capability needed at modular panel and building interfaces. Selection is based on the complete supporting construction, opening geometry and service conditions rather than on sealant alone.

Key Features

Non-sag consistency supports controlled installation in vertical and overhead joint openings.

Elastic grades accommodate cyclic movement at perimeter and construction joints.

Low-shrink curing helps preserve contact with prepared joint flanks.

Red or contrasting compounds make installed coverage easier to inspect before enclosure.

Customer Product Concerns

A fire-resisting cleanroom interface must close smoke paths while remaining compatible with the complete wall, backing and penetration arrangement.

Sealant selected independently of the supporting assembly may not suit the opening geometry.Joint width, depth, backing, substrates and services are matched as one defined firestop system.
Building movement can split a rigid perimeter seal and create a smoke path.A movement-capable grade and correct width-to-depth profile allow controlled elastic deformation.
Dust or weak coatings cause adhesion loss along joint flanks.Sound substrates are cleaned and, where required, primed before backing and sealant placement.
Inconsistent bead depth leaves thin sections around penetrations.Specified backing material controls depth and supports uniform tooling around the full opening.
