Explosion-Proof Axial Exhaust Fan
- Hazardous-Area Motor Options
- Controlled Impeller Tip Clearance
- Bonded and Grounded Metalwork
- Protected Cable Entries
Product Introduction
This explosion-proof axial exhaust fan is configured as a complete hazardous-area ventilation assembly rather than relying on one blade material alone. The long-cased steel housing, impeller and casing material pairing, running clearance, compatible hazardous-area motor, external terminal enclosure, bonding provisions and cable glands are selected together for the intended gas group, temperature class and Zone or Class. External electrical access and bolted duct flanges allow the rotating and wiring components to be inspected without removing the complete duct run.
Key Features
External Ex d flameproof or Ex e increased-safety motor arrangements can be matched to the electrical classification and conveyed atmosphere.
A metal terminal enclosure, hazardous-area cable glands and identified bonding points provide a controlled electrical connection at the fan body.
Heavy-gauge welded casing, spun flanges and external stiffeners help preserve the specified tip clearance during horizontal or vertical installation.
Customer Product Concerns
Ventilation in flammable-vapor areas must move the required air while the complete mechanical and electrical construction addresses foreseeable ignition sources.
Typical Applications
Technical Parameters
Typical structural ranges for a configurable external-motor axial fan intended for hazardous-area exhaust service are listed below.
| Core Material | Hot-dip galvanized or epoxy-coated steel long casing with a manufacturer-selected impeller/casing material pairing, compatible hazardous-area motor and external terminal enclosure |
|---|---|
| Panel Thickness | 3.0-6.0 mm heavy-gauge welded casing thickness |
| Effective Width | 450-1600 mm nominal clear fan diameter |
| Maximum Length | Up to 3000 mm overall length including external motor supports and terminal enclosure |
| Steel Facing Thickness | 3.0-6.0 mm carbon-steel casing, flange and reinforcement plate |
| Core Density | Approximately 7800-7900 kg/m³ for the reinforced carbon-steel casing |
| Thermal Conductivity | Approximately 45-55 W/(m·K) for the carbon-steel shell and support structure |
| Surface Finish | Hot-dip galvanizing or chemical-resistant coating with corrosion-resistant impeller finish and designated bonding points |
| Joint Type | Welded long casing with bolted circular flanges, maintained impeller clearance, bonding lugs and hazardous-area cable glands |
| Customization | Available based on the intended application and operating environment. |
