Gel-Seal HEPA Filter
- Integral Gel Channel
- Continuous Fluid Seal
- Room-Side Replacement
- Low-Outgassing Gel Option
Product Introduction
The gel-seal HEPA filter adds a continuous perimeter channel to its extruded-aluminum frame and fills it with non-flowing polyurethane or silicone gel. During installation, the terminal housing's matching knife edge penetrates the gel and creates a fluid barrier around the complete filter perimeter. The mini-pleat microglass pack is separately potted inside the frame, so media sealing and housing sealing remain distinct. Because the gel can conform around minor mating-edge irregularities, this design is widely used in bottom-loading and room-side replaceable cleanroom terminals.
Key Features
The mating housing knife edge displaces gel locally to create a resilient fluid barrier.
Separate polyurethane pack potting protects filtration integrity independently of the external seal.
The room-side replaceable geometry reduces access requirements above sealed cleanroom ceilings.
Customer Product Concerns
A cleanroom terminal seal must remain continuous even when the ceiling frame has small dimensional tolerances or the filter is replaced repeatedly.
Typical Applications
Technical Parameters
Typical construction ranges for a mini-pleat gel-seal HEPA filter are shown below.
| Core Material | Water-resistant borosilicate microglass HEPA media formed into hot-melt-spaced mini-pleats |
|---|---|
| Panel Thickness | 90, 100 or 120 mm overall frame depth including gel channel |
| Effective Width | 305-610 mm terminal-module width |
| Maximum Length | Up to 1220 mm panel length |
| Steel Facing Thickness | 0.50-0.70 mm optional perforated stainless-steel downstream faceguard |
| Core Density | Approximately 90-150 kg/m³ nominal gel-frame HEPA pack density |
| Thermal Conductivity | Approximately 0.031-0.038 W/(m·K) for dry borosilicate microglass media |
| Surface Finish | Anodized-aluminum frame with clean white media and clear or blue non-hardening gel |
| Joint Type | Integral perimeter gel channel engaged by the matching knife edge of the terminal housing |
