Product Introduction

This portable optical tachometer measures rotational speed without touching the moving shaft. A visible red emitter illuminates one reflective marker on the rotating part, while the adjacent receiver counts the returning light pulses and converts their repetition rate to revolutions per minute. A five-digit display, measurement hold and minimum, maximum, average and last-value recall support repeatable checks on cleanroom fans, air-handling equipment, pumps and production machinery. The recessed sensor window protects the optical elements, and a wrist lanyard helps secure the instrument during one-handed use.

Reliable optical RPM readings depend on one reflective event per revolution, a clear line of sight, suitable target contrast and stable aim, so target preparation is as important as the instrument setting.

Multiple reflective areas on one revolution can make the displayed RPM a multiple of the true shaft speed.Use one clean reflective marker and cover or avoid other bright surfaces within the optical spot.

Ambient light, a dirty lens or poor target contrast can cause unstable pulse detection.The visible aiming beam, recessed optical window and high-contrast silver marker help establish a clear return signal.

A technician may be tempted to approach an exposed shaft too closely to obtain a reading.Non-contact optical measurement supports alignment from a practical standoff distance without touching the moving part.

Surface speed cannot be derived from RPM unless roller circumference is known.Use the stored RPM with the verified roller circumference, or select an optional contact adapter when direct linear-speed measurement is required.
