Polyurethane Foam Sealant
- Controlled Gap Expansion
- Thermal and Acoustic Fill
- Strong Substrate Adhesion
- Trim-and-Finish Surface
Product Introduction
Polyurethane foam sealant is dispensed from a pressurized aerosol can as a moisture-reactive cellular material. It expands within irregular concealed voids, adheres to many common construction substrates and cures into a lightweight insulating fill that can be trimmed after hardening. In cleanroom work it is normally kept behind the exposed hygienic finish, with the accessible joint subsequently closed using a smooth compatible sealant or trim profile.
Key Features
The cured closed- and open-cell structure reduces uncontrolled air movement through concealed gaps.
Adhesion to compatible concrete, masonry, timber, metal and rigid insulation stabilizes the filled cavity.
Hardened excess can be cut back to receive a cleanable cover trim or surface seal.
Customer Product Concerns
Irregular installation cavities need a continuous insulating fill without allowing expanding foam to become the exposed cleanroom surface.
Typical Applications
Technical Parameters
Typical construction and application ranges for a one-component aerosol polyurethane foam sealant are shown below.
| Core Material | One-component moisture-curing polyurethane prepolymer and propellant |
|---|---|
| Panel Thickness | 10-80 mm practical filled cavity depth per controlled application |
| Effective Width | 10-50 mm recommended concealed gap width |
| Maximum Length | Up to 30000 mm indicative bead length per 750 mL can, depending on bead size |
| Steel Facing Thickness | 0.40-1.20 mm compatible cleanroom panel or frame facing |
| Core Density | Approximately 15-30 kg/m³ free-rise cured foam density |
| Thermal Conductivity | Approximately 0.033-0.040 W/(m·K) for cured foam |
| Surface Finish | Trimmed cellular foam concealed beneath a cleanable sealant or cover trim |
| Joint Type | Concealed frame, perimeter or penetration cavity fill |
| Customization | Available based on the intended application and operating environment. |
