Product Introduction

This portable illuminance meter separates the display from the light-receiving head so the sensor can be positioned at the actual measurement plane without the operator shading or reflecting light onto it. A silicon photodiode beneath a white diffuser responds to visible light, while optical filtering and cosine correction help the detector represent how illuminance reaches a flat surface from different directions. The handheld unit provides automatic or manual range selection, hold and timed-hold operation, maximum and minimum recall, point averaging and reading storage for structured lighting surveys.

Key Features

Separate cabled sensor allows the display and operator to remain outside the measurement plane.

Cosine-corrected white diffuser supports representative readings from oblique incident light.

Visible-response optical filtering suits common fluorescent, LED and daylight measurements.

Automatic and manual ranges cover low-level emergency lighting and bright task-lighting checks.

Timed hold reduces the influence of an operator's shadow or clothing reflection at the sensor.

Threaded sensor mount and compact tripod maintain a repeatable height and orientation during grid surveys.

Customer Product Concerns

Reliable illuminance surveys depend on sensor angle, measurement height, source spectrum and the operator's position, so the detector must be placed consistently without disturbing the light field.

The technician's body can cast a shadow or reflect light toward the detector and change the reading. The cabled sensor and timed-hold mode let the operator step away before the value is captured.
A detector tilted away from the defined work plane can make grid measurements difficult to compare. The flat sensor base and 1/4-inch tripod mount hold the diffuser level at a repeatable height.
LED, fluorescent and daylight sources have different spectral distributions.A silicon photodiode and visible-response correction filter provide a measurement response aligned with photopic illuminance.
Single readings do not show whether lighting is uniform across a room or workbench.Point averaging and stored readings support a repeatable measurement grid and later comparison.
