Product Introduction

The Clean Steam Trap is a compact vertical in-line device that drains condensate and non-condensable gas from hygienic steam systems without functioning as a filter, separator or control valve. The selected identity uses two smooth 316L body halves joined by one safety clamp, with a sanitary clamp ferrule at the top inlet and a coaxial ferrule at the bottom outlet. Inside, a temperature-sensitive balanced-pressure capsule opens while the assembly is cold to pass air, condensate and cleaning fluid, then moves toward the angled seat as the fluid approaches steam saturation temperature. Downward flow, a low-retention internal path and a removable capsule-and-seal assembly support clean-steam mains, sterile barriers and SIP equipment drainage where pooling is undesirable.

Key Features

Wetted inlet and outlet body halves machined from 316L stainless steel

Balanced-pressure thermostatic capsule responsive to condensate temperature

Vertical downward-flow arrangement for gravity-assisted drainage

Angled internal seat that directs liquid toward the lower outlet

Single safety clamp for controlled body disassembly

Replaceable capsule element and composite hygienic seal

Sanitary clamp ends for removable process-line installation

Polished crevice-minimizing exterior with no handwheel or actuator

Customer Product Concerns

A hygienic trap must evacuate start-up air and condensate quickly while limiting retained liquid, live-steam loss and maintenance exposure in a compact drain leg.

Condensate retained upstream can cool a sterile boundary or extend an SIP heat-up cycleInstall the selected trap vertically with downward flow and a correctly sized cooling leg so gravity and the self-draining seat path carry condensate toward the outlet.
A trap that closes far below saturation wastes useful temperature and increases the standing liquid columnUse the balanced-pressure capsule selected for near-saturation response at the actual steam pressure and condensate load.
Crevices and complex cavities make hygienic drain points difficult to inspect and cleanSpecify smooth 316L body halves, sanitary end connections and the clamp-secured service split for direct access to the wetted element and seal.
Incorrect orientation or capacity selection can cause condensate back-up during start-upMatch trap capacity, end size and capsule version to the cold and hot condensate loads, then preserve the marked vertical downward-flow installation direction.

Typical Applications
