ESD Chair

An adjustable ESD chair uses static-dissipative seating surfaces and conductive running gear to limit charge accumulation while supporting precise seated work in controlled electronics areas.
  • Dissipative polyurethane seat and back connect through the metal support structure.
  • Conductive caster or glide options suit compatible grounded ESD flooring.
  • Adjustable seat, back support and foot-ring choices accommodate different bench heights.

Product Introduction

The ESD Chair combines molded, easy-clean static-dissipative polyurethane seating surfaces with an electrically continuous support structure. The seat, backrest, metal mechanism and conductive casters form a controlled path toward compatible grounded ESD flooring; a grounding chain can be selected where required by the site design. Pneumatic height control, backrest adjustment and an optional foot ring suit both standard and elevated assembly benches. The chair remains one element of the complete ESD control program and does not replace the prescribed operator-grounding method.

Key Features

Static-dissipative polyurethane seat and backrest resist wear and routine cleaning chemicals.

Conductive casters or glides maintain electrical continuity with a compatible grounded ESD floor.

Pneumatic seat-height adjustment supports shared workstations and different bench heights.

Adjustable back support and seat controls promote stable posture during close assembly work.

Five-star base provides a broad, maneuverable footprint.

Optional foot ring, armrests, braking casters and grounding chain suit different process layouts.

Customer Product Concerns

ESD seating moves continuously during use, so material resistance, mechanical continuity, floor contact and ergonomic adjustment must remain compatible as one seating system.

Challenges IntroductionESD seating moves continuously during use, so material resistance, mechanical continuity, floor contact and ergonomic adjustment must remain compatible as one seating system.
Charge generated by ordinary upholsteryThe dissipative polyurethane contact surfaces reduce charge retention and connect electrically through the chair structure.
Intermittent contact with the ESD floorConductive casters or glides are selected for the flooring system; an optional drag chain provides an additional configuration where the site ESD plan calls for it.
Fatigue at fixed-height workstationsPneumatic height control, backrest adjustment and optional foot support let users set a more stable posture for repetitive close work.
Difficult cleaning around seams and fabricMolded polyurethane surfaces avoid absorbent textile upholstery and present smooth exposed areas for routine wiping.
Mistaking the chair for the operator groundThe chair is specified as a supporting ESD-control element; the site-selected wrist-strap or footwear/flooring personnel-grounding system remains necessary.

Typical Applications

Seated PCB assembly and soldering operations.Electronics testing, inspection and repair positions.Semiconductor, sensor and optoelectronic handling areas.ESD protected production and engineering laboratories.Controlled rooms requiring cleanable task seating.
