Activated Carbon Exhaust Unit
- Modular activated-carbon cartridge bank for exhaust air
- Upstream particulate prefilter protects adsorption media
- Gasketed side access simplifies inspection and changeout
Product Introduction
The Activated Carbon Exhaust Unit is a horizontal duct module for reducing selected VOCs, odors and compatible molecular contaminants in process or room exhaust. Air enters through a tapered transition, crosses a particulate prefilter and then passes through a sealed bank of activated-carbon cartridges before leaving through the opposite transition. The side-access cabinet keeps each cartridge positively located on a gasketed baseplate, while door seals and handwheel latches limit bypass. Differential-pressure taps indicate particle-filter loading and abnormal flow resistance, but carbon replacement is established from contaminant loading, media testing or downstream monitoring. Carbon grade, impregnation, residence time, humidity limit and fire controls are matched to the actual exhaust stream.
Key Features
A particulate prefilter reduces dust loading that would otherwise mask the activated-carbon surface
Gasketed cylindrical cartridges provide a modular molecular-media bank across one nominal duct module
Gasketed cartridge bases direct airflow through the media rather than around the cylinders
Large side-access doors allow cartridge inspection and replacement without dismantling adjacent ductwork
Multiple handwheel latches compress the closed-cell door gasket evenly around the service opening
Tapered inlet and outlet transitions spread and recover airflow across the filter face
Pressure taps support separate observation of prefilter and total housing resistance
Galvanized or stainless construction can be selected for the surrounding exhaust environment
Standard or impregnated activated carbon can target different compatible VOC, odor or corrosive-gas challenges
Customer Product Concerns
Activated carbon is a finite-capacity adsorbent. Reliable service requires contaminant-specific media, adequate contact time, clean airflow distribution and a replacement method that does not rely solely on pressure drop.
Typical Applications
Technical Parameters
The displayed basis is a horizontal galvanized-steel housing approximately 1400 mm long, 760 mm wide and 760 mm high, using a modular bank of cylindrical activated-carbon cartridges and one upstream pleated prefilter. The site's fixed ten-row schema uses panel-oriented labels; Panel Thickness therefore represents housing width across the service doors, while Core Density and Thermal Conductivity describe representative packed molecular media. Cartridge quantity, carbon type, bed mass, residence time, duct velocity, seals, prefilter and monitoring remain application-selected.
