The tube-axial flow fan uses an aluminum airfoil impeller centered inside a close-clearance galvanized steel cylinder. The blades accelerate air parallel to the shaft, making the fan suitable for large airflow duties where a full centrifugal scroll is unnecessary. An external motor and shaft arrangement leaves the duct bore comparatively open, protects the motor from the conveyed air and gives technicians direct access to the drive without removing the cylindrical casing from the duct.
