The air-to-air plate heat recovery unit combines a formed aluminum plate core, four duct connections and separate outdoor/supply and return/exhaust chambers inside one insulated galvanized-steel cabinet. Corrugated plates create alternating passages that transfer sensible heat across the metal surface, while internal folds, seals and gaskets minimize air leakage between the two paths. Removable access panels expose the filters, exchanger faces and condensate section for inspection. A sloped drain pan and optional bypass damper support wet operation, free cooling and cold-weather control without dismantling the ductwork.

An unfavorable pressure balance can drive residual internal leakage toward the clean supply-air path.Gasketed partitions and sealed plate folds minimize leakage, while maintaining the clean side at the higher pressure directs any residual leakage toward exhaust.

Water retained below the exhaust-side plate face restricts airflow and can contaminate the cabinet floor.Correct core orientation, a sloped stainless drain pan and a properly trapped outlet remove condensate from the wet section.

Winter frost progressively blocks narrow plate channels and upsets the intended supply-to-exhaust balance.A controlled bypass, upstream preheat or staged airflow response keeps the exhaust-side leaving condition above the selected frost limit.
