The combination fire and smoke damper integrates a sealed multiblade smoke-control assembly with a thermally responsive closure device in one sleeved penetration unit. During normal operation the external actuator can open, close or modulate the airfoil blades for system sequences. A smoke-control command drives the spring-return actuator toward its safety position, while the thermal release provides an independent response to elevated temperature. Blade and jamb seals restrict leakage, and end switches can report the fully open and fully closed positions.

Airfoil blades reduce operating pressure drop while edge and jamb seals improve closed-position smoke control.
A spring-return actuator drives the selected safety position when control power is removed.
Thermal release and optional position switches support independent closure response and remote status monitoring.
