The AHU door gasket is a flexible extruded seal fitted between an air-handler access door and its surrounding casing flange. Its rounded sponge-rubber bulb compresses as the latches close, while the flat base follows the door perimeter and holds the profile in position with a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. Closed-cell EPDM is commonly selected for this service because it limits water uptake and tolerates repeated compression, temperature variation and ozone exposure. A replacement loop must reproduce the original profile height, base width, corner path, perimeter and splice position so the door can close evenly without leakage or excessive latch load.

Access-door sealing depends on profile geometry, compression and surface preparation; a visually similar weatherstrip can still create bypass leakage or excessive closing force.

A bulb that is too low does not contact the casing flange, while an oversized profile overloads hinges and compression latches.Uncompressed height, base width and available closure gap are measured from the existing AHU door before the replacement profile is selected.
Adhesive-backed gasket can lift where oil, dust, moisture or old foam remains on the mounting surface.The installation face is cleaned and dried, then the liner is removed progressively while the flat base is pressed down without stretching.
Stretching the extrusion around corners causes later shrinkage and can pull the splice apart.The loop perimeter and corner path are formed to the measured door geometry so the gasket is laid in a relaxed state.
An incompatible rubber compound may harden, swell or lose resilience in the AHU temperature and cleaning environment.EPDM grade, cell structure, adhesive system and operating range are selected for the actual air temperature, condensate exposure and maintenance agents.
