The Contact Plate is filled so the agar forms a smooth convex surface above the dish rim. Removing the lid allows the medium to touch a defined area of a dry flat surface or a gloved fingertip without scraping the plastic edge. After controlled pressure and dwell, the plate is closed and incubated for recovery and enumeration. Critical-area formats use gamma-irradiated triple wrapping, while lockable lids, data identification and neutralizer blends support secure cleanroom workflows.
