Direct Expansion Modular Air Conditioning Unit combines an outdoor refrigeration unit with a modular indoor air handler to cool, heat, filter and regulate the moisture content of supply air. Refrigerant exchanges heat directly with air at the indoor coil, removing the need for a central chiller, chilled-water pumps and cooling tower.
This arrangement helps projects without an existing central cooling source, or with limited plant-room space, obtain their own air-conditioning system. Selectable treatment sections match the ventilation, temperature, humidity and filtration needs of a new room or an existing facility being upgraded.
SYSTEM DESIGN
Fresh and return air mix before pre-filtration and the DX cooling section. Heating, humidification, the supply fan, fine filtration, silencers and disinfection sections can be combined around the process requirements.
The electronic expansion valve and PLC coordinate cooling capacity with temperature and humidity demand. Cooling removes moisture; heating and humidification sections adjust the final supply-air condition when required.
Deep cooling supports lower supply-air moisture content for process areas. Under suitable operating conditions, it can meet duties that would otherwise require a desiccant wheel; selection depends on the required moisture level and incoming air condition.
Double-skin panels, polyurethane insulation and thermal breaks reduce heat transfer and cold bridging. Sealed internal corners and smooth surfaces limit dust traps and support cleaning and air-tight construction.
G4 and F8 filters operate inside the unit, with high-efficiency filtration at terminal supply outlets. UV disinfection, chemical filtration and heat recovery can be added for the project.
APPLICATIONS
Supply filtered air with controlled temperature and humidity as part of the room ventilation design, using the selected filtration stages and terminal high-efficiency filters.
Manage fresh-air moisture and temperature around assembly processes where changes in room conditions can disrupt production requirements.
Provide controlled air for test rooms designed around the required temperature and humidity conditions.
Treat outdoor and return air to support humidity-sensitive work and the filtration requirements of the selected room.
Provide dehumidified supply air where the selected DX system can meet the particular process moisture requirement.
Add independent air treatment where there is no central chilled-water supply or insufficient room for conventional water-side plant.
INSTALLATION AND CARE
Connect ducts, power and copper refrigerant piping, and provide condensate drainage and services for any selected humidification section. Horizontal, vertical, ceiling-mounted and rooftop arrangements accommodate different spaces.
With the site and connections prepared, standard installations can be completed within a few days. The modular arrangement helps fit work around existing plant and restricted access.
Removing the chilled-water loop avoids its scale, pump and water-valve maintenance. Service filters and fans regularly, and include the refrigerant circuit, coils, condensate drains and selected humidifier in the maintenance plan.
